Join my 5-day Spanish Challenge!

Finally OVERCOME YOUR FEAR of speaking Spanish in just 5 days so you can stop wasting time feeling nervous and start engaging so you can steadily improve your Spanish conversation skills over time!

You are a teacher, administrator, or other school-based staff member…

You took Spanish in school (or maybe *gasp* French or German instead!). Even if you got a solid foundation, you got that knot in your stomach when it was time to speak, and therefore your progress plateaued and to this day, holding a conversation seems overwhelming.

If you took another language, you also know what I’m talking about, and the fact that you’re a beginner at Spanish doesn’t prevent you from overcoming this same fear right now so you can start off on the right foot.

Nevertheless, here you are, READY to GET INTO GEAR and truly speak this beautiful language that you love. You just need some heartfelt encouragement, knowledgeable support, and positive experiences!

You’re sick of the awkward smiles and waves,

the mad searches for a bilingual staff member in the building (if there is one), and mostly you’re sick of the disconnected feeling when you can’t gush to your parents about how much you love their child! (You would even be happy if you could just order that delicious salsa verde in Spanish from your favorite taco spot!)

You hate feeling like you aren’t serving your families like you want to, and you hate even more when you’re not learning and growing. You know you are intelligent, determined, and inspirational … so there’s NO reason why you can’t learn Spanish.

For your native Spanish-speaking students, you want to empower their superpower (bilingualism)!

You want to be able to communicate with their parents beyond just the greetings … maybe at first, a simple conversation (and actually be able to understand what they say back).

Eventually you’d like to use Spanish at any opportunity, including some summer trips to enticing places, where you could connect with people more than the average tourist.

For your native English-speakers, you want to cultivate their curiosity

in other languages and cultures, and perhaps inspire them to learn Spanish themselves one day!

And for all your students, you want to model lifelong learning,

and maybe even teach a bit of Spanish in your classroom! After all, you are a teacher at heart, and you always want to do more for your incredible students!

The thing is …

speaking Spanish is really intimidating.

First of all, there are so many options to learn a language, almost no way to know which app, program, or service is best … and will any of them work for you anyway??? It’s not like you have cash to burn, people! (Even though, let’s be real, you should be payed a doctor’s salary.)

But you also know deep down, that no matter which program or service you choose, you will ultimately have to actually speak Spanish with real people. And that. is. terrifying.

That is why I created the 5-day Spanish Challenge…

So that you can step gently out of your comfort zone, no matter how much or how little Spanish you have studied

… and start speaking now

… and start having positive experiences now

… that give you the encouragement and confidence you need to continue!

After all, if you can do it for 5 days, you can do it for 10 days, or 30, or 365.

The 5-Day Spanish Challenge is unlike any other  you will find online.

I’m not going to make you fill in blanks. I’m not going to give you a role play. I’m also not going to throw you into immersion right from the get-go, leaving you feeling overwhelmed and unsuccessful. Just like you work hard to set your students up for success, I do the same for you.

I will not teach you the same old cliché greetings each day and call it a “challenge”. You feel limited to the ever-present “Hola! ¿Cómo estás?” and you want more.

I am going to teach you one thing new thing each day (there is something new for all levels), and help you get out there in the world using Spanish in a way that is the right balance of comfortable and new!

I break down all new words and phrases so you can understand how to pronounce them, what they mean, and what contexts to use them in so you can USE them! (Yes, I’ll say it again… USE them!)

If you have ever felt overwhelmed by Spanish instruction in the past, this is the place to start. You’ve got this, corazón! And I’ll be with you every step of the way.

Who am I?

I have been a public educator obsessed with language acquisition for over 10 years. I have taught academic content in Spanish AND English to native speakers of BOTH and language learners of BOTH.

I have spent my summers over several years working in Mexico and Central America, which helped me not just improve my language, but also understand where our families come from culturally. This understanding has been just as important to our communication as the words themselves.

Today I teach ESOL to K-11 … and just as much fun, I teach Spanish to my colleagues in education across the country, so YOU can be empowered to connect with others, teach, lead, and “be the change you wish to see in the world”!

I believe in you!

How it works

When you sign up, you will be added to my list to receive one e-mail a day for six days (1 day to get ready and 5 days to work the challenge). Each e-mail will give you Spanish instruction AND instructions for what to do with your Spanish out in the world.

But first, you’ll watch a short video so you know what to expect so you can get in the zone. 😉

From there, you’ll get rocking!

Each day you will have 5-20 minutes of work to do total (including both learning AND using).

Oh, I’ll also send you a link to my private Facebook group where you can ask questions so you NEVER have to get stuck!

What you’ll learn

TWBAT (Teachers will be able to … )

  • Build onto the greetings you already know with more conversational greetings you don’t yet know.
  • Add more goodbyes to your repertoire, including ones that will impress native speakers!
  • Order basic food and drink from your local restaurant or grocer.
  • Pay someone a compliment.
  • Know what to do when you can’t think of a word or can’t understand the other person.
  • Know what to do if you can’t roll your Rs so you don’t feel embarrassed to speak.
  • Know what to do if someone else can’t understand you so you preserve the relationship (and your dignity)!

But most importantly, you will …

(Can you guess what I’m about to say?)

  • Get over your fear of speaking.
  • Discover that you DO have what it takes.
  • Find out that people are a lot nicer to you than the devil on your shoulder tells you.

This list is why this course is the spring board for everything else you could possibly learn in Spanish, and why without it, you can learn as much as you want, but will always hit a wall that leaves you feeling dissatisfied.

What are you waiting for?
